It was a weekend of no real upset as the ABSA Premiership was in full action again this weekend.

Maritzburg United 0 – 0 Orlando Pirates

The top of the table remains unchanged as Maritzburg United and Orlando Pirates played to a goalless draw at the Harry Gwala stadium on Friday. The home side underlined their reputation as a tough side to beat when they dominated the opening stages of the game and were dangerous on the counter as Pirates started to gain confidence. The two sides remain first and second on the log respectively.

Ajax Cape Town 2 – 0 Polokwane City

In Friday’s other fixture a Prince Nxumalo brace ensured Ajax Cape Town registered their first win of the season when they took on Polokwane City at the Cape Town stadium. The game looked to be heading to a stalemate when Nxumalo opened the scoring in the 70th minute. He scored again in the 90th minute to put the result beyond doubt.

Baroka FC 1 – 0 Free State Stars

Baroka FC made it two wins in a row when they came up against Free State Stars at Peter Mokaba stadium on Saturday. Substitute Mpho Kgaswane netted the only goal of the match in the 85th minute.

Kaizer Chiefs 1 – 1 Bidvest Wits

Simphiwe Tshabalala scored for the second game in a row when he opened the scoring in the second half against Bidvest Wits on Saturday. This would not be enough as Egyptian striker Ahmed Gamal Amr rescued a point for The Students in the last minute.
