With just a few weeks left until the end of the 2022-23 campaign, Pirates are set to finish second in the DStv Premiership, while the Buccaneers are favourites to add the Nedbank Cup to their MTN8 title from last year.

It’s been a great campaign for them, but there is no doubt that they will be keen to bolster their squad even further ahead of next season.

Riaan Hanamub, who hails from Namibia, has been on the South African football scene for some time, having played for Jomo Cosms, Chippa and then AmaZulu from last year.

Interestingly, he’s now been linked to Pirates, with popular online source Unplayable suggesting that the Buccaneers “will look to sign him for next season.”

Meanwhile, last year, it was confirmed that midfielder Ntsako Makhubela was set for a loan move back to his old club Golden Arrows as a result of limited game-time at Pirates and a sense that he wouldn’t be returning to the first team setup any time soon.

He ultimately rejoined Arrows in January after a disappointing first stint with the Buccaneers after first joining the Soweto giants in 2021.

According to FARPost, Arrows are now expected to be interested in retaining the services of Makhubela permanently.

Indeed, if they should engage Pirates on this matter, it’s unlikely Bucs bosses would stand in the way of such a move considering that the 29-year-old didn’t win favour under Jose Riveiro.

PIRATES EXPECTED TO HAVE A BIG UPCOMING TRANSFER WINDOW

Meanwhile, in case you missed the news, Pirates are apparently poised to secure the signing of a highly-regarded player from TS Galaxy for next season.

According to leading SABC Sport journalist Mazola Molefe, goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi “is on the verge of putting pen to paper”.

The report suggests that the 25-year-old – who has impressed for TS Galaxy this season and earned a Bafana call-up last November – is line to make a blockbuster move to the Soweto giants.

The player’s agent Basia Michaels was asked for an update by SABC Sport, although not much was given away.

“I can’t give you a comment on something that isn’t happening, should it happen and you ask me then I will let you know.

“The window opens 1 July – let’s see what movements happen, but I know Melusi is happy at Galaxy and we did a renewal about a year ago. But this is football and it doesn’t have a therefore so let’s see.”
