‘Skeem Saam’ actress Pebetsi Matlaila returns to radio

‘I’m happy to be back at SABC radio park’. Actress Pebetsi Matlaila, who plays Mokgadi in ‘Skeem Saam’ is thrilled to be back in radio.

Popular actress Pebetsi Matlaila, who is known for her role as Mokgadi Matloga in Skeem Saam has reportedly joined the radio station, Channel Africa.

The Limpopo-born actress Pebetsi Matlaila, who plays a journalist Mokgadi Matloga in SABC1 soapie Skeem Saam tells Daily Sun that she’s hosting a Chart Toppers at SABC radio park.  

“I am happy to be at SABC Radio Park headquarters. I host Chart Toppers every Saturday from noon to 2 pm, and Midnight Snack, which airs from 12 am to 2 am every Monday.”  

The actress and radio personality adds that she’s thrilled to return to the airwaves as this is something she loves.  

“This is a full-circle moment for me. I started radio in 2005 when I was living in the USA. I got an opportunity to do presenting and production on a community station in Harlem, New York, catering to Africans.”   

Matlaila, who’s also worked on UJ FM, Capricorn FM, and Ubuntu FM reportedly left radio seven years ago to pursue acting.

The mother of two also tells Daily Sun that she was not a radio break as she frequently sent her demo to several radio stations.  

“I was not on a break. I sent my demo to various stations yearly but I was never selected. Getting back into radio is an answered prayer but if I didn’t enjoy the season I was in for seven years while waiting for my chance, I would have never enjoyed acting.”  

Matlaila assures her Skeem Saam fans that she has not left the educational soapie, where she plays the role of Mokgadi Matloga.
