The City of Cape Town said three residential areas near the central business district will experience water supply disruptions on Wednesday, 9 March, as urgent repair work will be conducted.

CAPE TOWN REPAIR WORK RESULTS IN WATER CUTS

The City’s Water and Sanitation Department will work on the 255mm diameter main water supply to Vredehoek, Tamboerskloof and Bo-Kaap.

The affected areas will be without water from 20:00 until 00:00 on Wednesday, 9 March.

“The work involves cutting out and replacing a weakened section of pipe in Glen Crescent, Gardens which has resulted in previous water supply disruptions,” said the City of Cape Town.

The repair work was scheduled to ensure residents experienced minimal disruption. Some residents in the areas will experience low water pressure and others no water while the work is underway.

“Residents are kindly advised to store water upfront in clean, sealed containers for use during this period and to ensure that their taps are closed to avoid water loss and/or damage when the supply is restored,” said the City.

“The City regrets any inconvenience caused, but it is imperative that it maintains its water supply infrastructure to benefit its consumers.”

Meanwhile, five Cape Town areas, including Milnerton, Epping, Grassy Park, Asanda Village and Kenilworth, will experience power cuts on Wednesday due to the City’s ongoing electrical maintenance.
