Man dies after jumping from parking area of Claremont shopping centre

The Claremont police have opened an inquest after an unknown man jumped to his death in Cape Town on Monday morning.

The police in the Western Cape are investigating the death of an unknown man who died in Claremont, Cape Town on Monday morning, 7 March.

MAN ALLEGEDLY JUMPS FROM CLAREMONT BUILDING

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson in Cape Town Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi said the Claremont police attended a crime scene near Stegman Street at approximately 8:35 on Monday.

“Upon arrival, they found the body of an unknown male who sustained injuries to his head,” said Swartbooi.

The man was declared dead at the scene by the attending medical personnel.

According to reports from onlookers, the man jumped from the parking area of a local shopping centre and sustained fatal injuries.

The local police station has opened an inquest for further investigation.

“Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stop on 08600-10111,” said Swartbooi.
