Residents, fisherfolk and environmental activists have opposed Shell’s Seismic blasting for fossil fuels off South Africa’s Wild Coast.

Oil giant Shell has now lost around 30 South African petrol stations. Owners are boycotting the brand over it’s upcoming seismic survey.

More than 250 000 people have so far signed an online petition, demanding the government pull the plug on Shell’s Wild Coast exploration plan.

With yet another proposal for a ‘new city’ being introduced to South Africa, observers have expressed doubts over President Ramaphosa’s vision.
