A 20-year-old Limpopo learner was arrested after a fellow learner succumbed to injuries sustained during a fight.
The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (Sadtu) said it is concerned about safety in schools across the country.
SADTU called on communities and parents, to be involved in schools in their neighbourhoods through the union’s “I am A School Fan” campaign.
Classes had to be suspended at Effingham Secondary School in Durban after chaos ensued. A learner was even pointed at with a rifle.
A trip to the school’s ‘cool down room’ ended badly for a teacher after a little boy started punching her until she became unresponsive.
