Kaizer Chiefs conceded two penalties on their way to a 2-1 defeat away to Zanzibar outfit Zimamoto in the second leg of the preliminary round of the Caf Confederations Cup on Tuesday.

Despite the defeat, Amakhosi progressed to the next round through a 5-2 aggregate, having convincingly beaten their opponents in the previous leg at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, winning 4-0.

The hosts found the opener from the spot two minutes from the halfway mark, when Yussuf Ramadhan Mtuba eased one past Namibian international Virgil Vries.

However, it took the South African side just five minutes after the break to equalise, as Lebogang Manyama was set up by Bernard Parker and made no mistake in drawing level.

Chiefs thought they were in the lead later on, but Ryan Moon – who got a rare start – was flagged offside after he too ran into a pass from Parker.

The hosts then restored their lead in the 72nd minute, with Mtuba converting from the spot again.
