It has been weeks of hit and misses when it comes to Smackdown Live. They seem to be unable to make any logical decisions when it comes to booking storylines. Here’s hope the ship is steadied tonight.
We’re starting off hot tonight with the official contract signing of the first ever Women’s TLC triple threat title match. Smackdown GM Paige introduces the participants, Charlotte Flair, Asuka and of course, our champion, The Man Becky Lynch. Things escalate quickly between Becky and Charlotte. Asuka gets involved and says that Becky has never beaten her, and she chose wrong at Survivor Series. More back and forth. Eventually they all sign the contract, but are interrupted by Mandy Rose and Sonya De Ville who challenge Charlotte and Asuka to a match, and it’s on next.
Backstage Shane McMahon and The Miz are in conversation. Miz wants to know why he’s hosting MizTV when they should be chasing the tag team titles.
Mandy Rose & Sonya DeVille vs Asuka & Charlotte Flair
Result: Asuka nails Charlotte with a running knee to allow Sonya De Ville to pin Flair.
Cesaro (with Sheamus) vs Jey Uso (with Jimmy Uso) vs Xavier Woods (with The New Day)
Result: Jey Uso pins Cesaro with a super kick after a short fun match.
Backstage we get an interview with Rusev and Lana, they are not happy about US Champ Shinsuke Nakamura’s actions last week. Rusev says Nakamura is terrified of him. Rusev wants HIS US Championship back, on Rusev Daaaaaay!
Now it’s time for MizTV, and before we can get started, Carmella and R-Truth are here for a …dance break! Then it’s back to The Miz as he introduces the WWE Champion, the new Daniel Bryan. Bryan cuts a smarmy promo about being smarter than everyone else. Miz pushes Bryan to admit he’s been fooling people all along. Bryan admits it by saying Yes!, then No!, before saying it doesn’t matter. That Daniel Bryan is dead and so is the Yes Movement. AJ Styles has heard enough and makes his way to the ring.
Jeff Hardy vs Randy Orton
Result: Orton gets the win with an RKO after Samoa Joe appears on the titan tron making fun of Jeff Hardy’s past addictions.
The Miz vs AJ Styles
Result: AJ taps out the Miz with the Calf Crusher. After the match, Daniel Bryan brutalizes AJ Styles, and gets the ring announcer to say his name as “The New Daniel Bryan”. He calls the people fickle as they boo him to close the show. Fickle is the new yes!
