Did Kaizer Chiefs dodge a transfer bullet?

Kaizer Chiefs made eight signings during the course of the season, but they will arguably be happy that this one didn’t materialise.

Kaizer Chiefs get criticised for some of their major transfer decisions, but it seems like they got this one right.

At the start of the season, Chiefs revamped their playing squad, making eight signings.

These included Thathoyaone Dithlokwe, Given Msimango, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Pule Mmodi, Ranga Chivaviro and Tebogo Potsane. Then, with the season already under way, Chiefs added Jasond Gonzales and Sibongiseni Mthethwa. In October, they added a ninth signing, in the now late centre back Luke Fleurs. The former SA U23 star joined Amakhosi on a free transfer from SuperSport United

Chiefs missed out on Human despite being undeniably interested

Having made close to 10 additions, Chiefs missed out on some players they were heavily linked to. One of those players is attacking midfielder Rowan Human. Every week there was a new rumour that the player was edging closer to joining the Glamour Boys. He was even flirting with the idea of joining the club, sending ‘come and get me pleas” in the form of interviews. He had admitted his admiration and dream to play for Amakhosi, citing current star Keagan Dolly as a role model.

But surprisingly though, due to an internal mishap at Chiefs regarding the deal, they were pipped to Human’s services. The player would end up joining AmaZulu, from fellow KZN side Martizburg United who cashed in after their relegations.

It certainly hasn’t quite worked out for Human at AmaZulu. He has only managed to make 11 appearances for the club since joining. Only one of those coming from the start. In recent weeks, he has even failed to make the match day squads of coach Pablo Martin. Now according to KickOff.com Usuthu are already considering his future.

“Considering his (Human) lack of gametime as the season winds down, it is understood that AmaZulu are now considering the player’s future at the club, and an exit cannot be ruled out at this stage.” Wrote the publication.

Therefore, did Amakhosi dodge a bullet?
