Kaizer Chiefs slashed the cash on Sibongiseni Mthethwa and that means somebody might be left out in the cold.

Sibongiseni Mthethwa arrives as a key first-team player at Kaizer Chiefs. That’s bad news for an existing Glamour Boy.

THE OX: Complete Sibongiseni Mthethwa player profile

Who will Mthethwa replace at Kaizer Chiefs?

Sibongiseni Mthethwa does his best work at the base of midfield, breaking up attacks and distributing the ball over short distances to spring his team’s own passing sequences. Right now, Kaizer Chiefs are using hybrid players in the shape of Edson Castillo and Yusuf Maart. Maart is naturally more inclined to go forward but is currently performing more of a box-to-box role. Similarly, Castillo is a complete package player who can do a bit of everything. If Mthethwa were to arrive at Naturena, it would free Venezuelan star Castillo up to bomb forward with more regularity. Maart might be the unfortunate one to miss out.

The Ox is in line to debut against Babina Noko

Meanwhile, Mthethwa is in line to make his Glamour Boys debut after being cup-tied for their MTN8 clash with Sundowns. The former Stellies man could be drafted into the starting XI at the expense of either George Matlou or Yusuf Maart. Chiefs face Babina Noko on Wednesday 27 September at 19:30.
