Castillo is currently still on the books of Caracas FC in his native, but he will see his deal with the club come to an end on 30 June, paving a way for him to join Chiefs.

It has been no secret that midfield is a position that Chiefs want to revamp ahead of the next season. In fact, they would have little no choice it seems, as they are thought to be on the verge of selling up to four of the midfielders that were on their books next season. The likes of veterans Phathutshedzo Nange as well as Cole Alexander have attracted the interests of SuperSport United according to reports.

It is not just the veterans that are said to be on their way out of Chiefs, however, with the likes of Sabelo Radebe tipped to leave the club, with Richards Bay FC thought to be an interested party. George Matlou is also believed to have been put up for transfer by the Chiefs management, despite only joining the club last season. The Amakhosi faithful have long since been calling for the club to sign a defensive midfielder, but those calls went quiet a bit last season with Njabulo Blom blossoming.

But just as Blom was coming of age, he was soon sold to Major League Soccer outfit St. Louis City, a move that seems to have been a masterstroke for the American side, the player and now the national team. But for Chiefs, it reopened a gap that Arthur Zwane thought he had finally closed. With Alexander injured, none of Yusuf Maart, Siyethemba Sithebe nor Samkelo Zwane were fully able to do a similar job in that position. But now, with the addition of Castillo, the Soweto giants may just have the answer to their problems.

Castillo has qualities Chiefs lacked last season

Judging from his YouTube video, Castillo is more than just a holding midfielder, but probably more of an all action box-to-box player. Aggressive in the tackle, but also good with his passing range, possess an aerial threat in the opposition box, which he can also arrive late in to score goals. In the below clip is anything to go by, the 29-year-old should prove to be a great acquisition from Chiefs. Watch the player in action below:
