Sekhukhune United beat Kaizer Chiefs to another top midfielder

It wasn’t so long ago when Sekhukhune signed Kamohelo Mokotjo under the nose of Amakhosi after their interest in him made the headlines.

It was not so long ago when Sekhukhune United signed Kamohelo Mokotjo under the nose of Kaizer Chiefs after their interest in him made headlines in the media.

Sekhukhune United have done it again ahead of next season with UnplayableZA reporting that Jamie Webber has joined them on a free transfer.

Webber joins Babina Noko on two-year deal from SuperSport United who missed the agreed date to trigger the option on his contract in April.

Subsequently, that meant Webber was immediately eligible to sign a pre-contract with a club of his choice, and Chiefs were believed to be the frontrunner to sign the 25-year-old midfielder.

However, he has chosen Sekhukhune United who will be campaigning in the CAF Confederation Cup next season by virtue of reaching the Nedbank Cup final.

Webber is the second to leave the SuperSport United for free ahead of the 2023-24 PSL season after Thatayaone Ditlhokwe.

Ditlhokwe is on his way to Kaizer Chiefs after signing a pre-contract with them during the January transfer window.

That move somehow angered the SuperSport United management who felt the Botswana international was not open enough when they wanted to keep him.
