TS Galaxy latest: Injured skipper gives update on return to action

TS Galaxy captain Given Msimango has given the struggling DStv Premiership side a boost by confirming his recovery from injury is “on track” and that he hopes to be back in action in “three weeks”.

The 24-year-old centre-back picked up the injury in pre-season training and was initially ruled out for two months.

He has now returned to light training.

Msimango told the TS Galaxy website: “My progress has been going very well. I’ve been going through the paces with the physio, biokinetics, and sports trainer as well to keep my fitness levels up.

“Everything is going well and I know that I’m due to be back in three weeks where I’ll be training with the team.”

Msimango added: “It is not nice watching the team from the sidelines especially with the team not getting the results. But I’ve been through this before.

“This is not my first roller-coaster. I understand where I’m at as a footballer. Mentally, I need to be strong.”

TS Galaxy have struggled without their captain this season to date and after five matches find themselves at the bottom of the 16-team DStv Premiership log.

To date TS Galaxy have drawn two and lost three matches and recently axed coach Owen Da Gama with Shaun Bartlett taking over on an interim basis.

They will next be in action at home to Sekhukhune United on Saturday, 2 October at 15:30.
