MAMELODI SUNDOWNS SIGN THEMBINKOSI LORCH FROM ORLANDO PIRATES

To prepare for life after Themba Zwane (34), Sundowns made the bold move to prise Lorch from the Soweto giants last month.

Pirates confirmed Lorch’s departure to Sundowns last Friday. “Thembinkosi Lorch is to leave Orlando Pirates Football Club after a discussion between the Chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza and the Mamelodi Sundowns hierarchy,” Pirates stated.

HOW DOES HE FIT IN THE STARTING LINE-UP?

With 10 Sundowns players set to go on leave after Afcon 2023, especially the veteran Zwane, Lorch is more than likely to start on Saturday night against his former club.

Line-up: Reyaad Pieterse, Bathusi Aubaas, Zuko Mdutyelwa, Rushine De Rueck, Abdelmounaim Boutouil, Matías Esquivel, Marcelo Allende, Tashreeq Matthews, Thembinkosi Lorch, Lucas Ribeiro and Peter Shalulile.

“It’s difficult to play my first game, especially against my former team,” Lorch said in the pre-match press conference on Thursday.

“But ja, life, we need to move on.

“I’m hoping that I will start over the weekend and do my best for my team,” the former Pirates hero concluded.
