Stellenbosch FC have secured the services of one of their speedy attackers for years to come after handing him a new contract.

Stellenbosch FC have secured the services of one of their speedy attackers for years to come after handing him a new contract.

In a brief statement released on Tuesday, Stellies announced that Deano van Rooyen will remain at the club longer than many would have expected.
Van Rooyen has been with Stellenbosch since the 2016-17 season, and he continues to be one of the integral members of Steve Barker’s squad.

The 25-year-old winger has featured 17 times for Stellies this season, 16 of which were starts while he came off the bench just once.
Van Rooyen has a single goal to his name but it is his work rate and ability to create goalscoring opportunities for his Stellies teammates that make him important to Barker.

VAN ROOYEN REWARDED BY STELLENBOSCH
At the end of the 2020-21 PSL season, Van Rooyen did enough to win the hearts of the Stellenbosch management and players.

He was named the club’s Footballer of Year as well as the Players’ Player of the Season for his performances during that campaign.
And that caught the eye of a number of PSL clubs who wanted to sign him but Stellenbosch managed to hold on to him.
