Kaizer Chiefs fans have reminded us all that football is an emotional game. The love and peace faithful became the opposite of that after Cape Town City mocked Nkosingiphile Ngcobo’s winning Goal of the Month.

So how did all the drama unfold?

KAIZER CHIEFS’ NGCOBO WINS GOAL OF THE MONTH

As the South African reported on Monday, the club’s beloved Ngcobo won the DStv Premiership December Goal of the Month gong, thanks to the voting public and his fabulous strike against Sekhukhune United at FNB.

The event encouraged Cape Town City to take a jibe at Chiefs. The hip club felt that Ngcobo’s goal simply won because of Amakhosi’s large following that was reflected in the voting. Otherwise, Cape Town City’s Mpho Makola scored the ‘real goal of the month.’

AMAKHOSI FANS ATTACK CAPE TOWN CITY

While City’s tweet appeared as hilarious banter at first, it did not take long to realise that Kaizer Chiefs fans did not find the post funny at all.

Here are some of the attacks that were fired at City via Twitter:

  • “The ball was put down for him to kick towards goal unmarked and he did just that. What’s special about that?” – @dyanieric.
  • “That goal won because we voted for it as Kaizer Chiefs fans and it is special to us. You should have voted for your favorite goal of the month and stop whining” – @_Aikabi
  • “You’re not our rival. Stop trying to force the tension, you’re a small team. We don’t care about u.’ – @J0zigirl
  • “You and your 3 supporters should have voted. Or ask PSL to have free-kick of the month as well.” – @ZenzeleKubheka9
  • “We noted your cry about Kaizer Chiefs player Ngcobo goal of the month…..don’t blame Kaizer Chiefs public was invited to vote for a goal of the month…so Chiefs supporters have voted for Ngcobo…we have voted for him..relax city.” – @RTumane
  • “I believe this deserves some kind of hearing. This is a complete disrespect to all the fans who used their resources to vote for the goal of the month. For a PSL team to do such and spit in our faces. They need to be professional,” – @Last_Nyts_Loser

Meanwhile, the next league game for these two sides can’t be a better event. Kaizer Chiefs’ upcoming match will be away to the same Cape Town City on 15 February. There is no option to miss it!
