Sundowns will only sell at the right price

Since joining Sundowns in 2022 from SuperSport United, Teboho Mokoena has become a lynchpin for the champions in the heart of the engine room. His range of passing has made him the preeminent central midfielder in the country.

According to transfermrkt.com, 27-year-old Mokoena is the second-most valuable player in the South African Premier Division with his value estimated at €2.2 million (R45 million). According to KickOff.com, the Brazilians might look to recoup as much as double that value if they can attract interest from the right foreign buyers. Seeing Mokoena leave the club would be a potentially bitter pill to swallow for Sundowns fans, but R90 million could soften the blow and be smartly reinvested.

Bafana must be wary of the Nigerian threat

South Africa meets Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Wednesday 7 February with kickoff at 19:00. Nigeria got the better of Angola in a tight quarter-final clash. Ademola Lookman was the only goal-scorer on the evening, and Lookman also scored a brace against Cameroon in the round of 16. Meanwhile, the directness and pace of Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze will give Aubrey Modiba plenty to think about on Bafana’s left.
