Should Ribeiro be ruled out of the final, Downs should have enough firepower to dominate the Buccaneers who are low on confidence.

Brazilian striker Lucas Ribeiro could miss the MTN8 final match between Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.

The 24-year-old limped off in Saturday’s CAF Champions League 2-0 win against Bumamuru.

Downs coach Rulani Mokwena said the Ribeiro was under assessment and could not confirm if he’ll be fit to play the MTN8 final against Pirates next weekend.

“Not yet, he’s under assessment, and we’ll see,” he said after the CAF CL match.

“But I don’t think it’s that serious,” Mokwena said as per iDiski Times.

Sundowns beat Bumamuru 4-0 away but could only manage to score two at home however, Mokwena said he was pleased with the performance of the team.

“The only way to improve this team is training, and I can’t ask for more sessions, because we’ve got so many games, he said.

The likelihood is that Ribeiro should be fit for Saturday’s game against Pirates. He scored the only goal when the two teams met last month in a DStv Premiership match.
