Out-of-favour Kaizer Chiefs midfielder backed to fight for his place

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe is facing stiff competition Edson Castillo, Mduduzi Mdantsane, and Yusuf Maart.

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe is urged to fight for his place in the team.

The former AmaZulu star hasn’t played a game for Amakhosi since their 2-1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns early in August. The 30-year-old picked up a knock against Downs and was forced to sit out for a few weeks.

Chiefs forgotten midfielder finding it hard o break into the team

Sithebe is facing stiff competition from in-form Edson Castillo, Mduduzi Mdantsane, and Yusuf Maart in the midfield and will need to perform at his very best when Molefi Ntseki decides to field him.

Former coach at AmaZulu Joey Antipas told FARPost that the midfielder needed to chin up and fight for his place.

“Sithebe is a quality player. But he still needs to work hard and understand that he is playing for a Glamour club. Its not easy there,” he said.

Antipas coached the Kaizer Chiefs midfielder while he was playing for AmaZulu a few seasons ago.

“He should chin up and fight for his place. The new additions obviously bring something new.

“But his advantage is that he is familiar with the club philosophy more than them. They are new and he has been there for a season,” he said.
