Polokwane club reneges on ex-Pirates star, shows him exit door

Ex-Orlando Pirates star midfielder Mpho Makola is now searching for a club after Polokwane City showed him the exit door.

Former Orlando Pirates star midfielder Mpho Makola has been shown the exit door by PSL returnees, Polokwane City as they reneged on their promise.

Reports emerged that the former Pirates and Cape Town City star was set to be handed a long–term deal by Rise and Shine are now having second thoughts.

Makola joined City in the Motsepe Foundation Championship on a short-term contract last season and he was reportedly promised an improved offer upon return to the elite division.

EX-PIRATES STAR SHOWN EXIT DOOR IN POLOKWANE

FarPOST has it that Makola and Joseph Mhlongo have both left the club as they bid their farewell via a WhatsApp group, thus confirming his departure.

The Limpopo-based football publication further reported that the ex-Pirates fan favourite, Makola has also posted a message, expressing unhappiness on social media status.

“They bid farewell to other players on the WhatsApp group just before they exited on Tuesday,” a club source told FARPost.

In his response, the 37-year-old Makola headed to his mobile phone and wrote on his social media, implying that the club didn’t treat him well.

MAKOLA’S AGENT DOUBTS HE WILL STAY IN POLOKWANE

The South African contacted Paul Mitchell of Siyavuma Sports Group via a text message and the seasoned player agent didn’t give further details on Bibo’s future.

Mitchell could only say he doubts that the Alexandra-born star, Makola will remain with the DStv Premiership side next season.

“I doubt,” replied Mitchell before saying he doesn’t “directly deal with City on Makola’s affairs but his partner does.”

Regarded as one of the most gifted playmakers in Mzansi, Makola and Mhlongo were part of City at the beginning of this year and helped the club gain automatic promotion to the elite division.

“It made a lot of difference to bring Makola, (Lucky) Baloyi, and Mhlongo to lead these youngsters,” reported FarPOST.
