Mamelodi Sundowns: Did Erasmus hit back at Rhulani with cryptic text?

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Kermit Erasmus is clearly frustrated with his situation at the club after being isolated since the start of the season.

Erasmus’ future at Sundowns is hanging in the balance after his jersey number (No.11) was handed to newly-signed attacking midfielder Marcelo Allende.

And co-coach Rhulani Mokwena has been reluctant to say what the future holds for the former Orlando Pirates striker, saying the club will make announcements.

Now, this past weekend, Mokwena was again asked about Erasmus and Gift Motupa and the club’s stance on their futures.

Mokwena said as Sundowns, they will do the best they can to ‘support’ both Erasmus and Motupa for as long as they are still contracted to them.

“As long as they are still part of the team, we will do the best we can to support and help them,” Mokwena said.

“We believe in them and trust them to be able to give us an output. Like all the other players, while they are at Sundowns they are our players and we love them. We will continue to show them support and appreciation.”

ERASMUS HITS BACK AT RHULANI OVER ‘SUPPORT’ STATEMENT?

Now, Erasmus has seemingly hit back at Mokwena for the ‘support’ statement he made in the media, saying, ‘support doesn’t always come in the form of money‘.

What Erasmus is believed to be saying is that the only support he’s getting from Sundowns at the moment, is the salary he receives every month.

ERASMUS NOT NEW TO SOCIAL MEDIA CONTROVERSY

In June 2015, Erasmus courted controversy when he turned down a call-up to the Bafana Bafana camp to replace Tokelo Rantie who had personal commitments to attend to.

At the time, Erasmus was initially not in Shakes Mashaba’s squad, and upon turning down the call-up, he took to social media to say, ‘I’m no back up player‘.

He later apologised for his action, and he was considered for future Bafana Bafana call-ups after his apology was accepted by the South African Football Association (SAFA).
