For all the frustration inflicted on their fans they remain in the frame to reach a continental competition.

Zwane has been willing to use a fair number of younger players which he is clearly hoping is something that will pay dividends down the road.

Kaizer Chiefs haven’t managed to assemble a class starting XI, let alone a squad to match Mamelodi Sundowns but Zwane has once again pleaded for patience.

Zwane said: “We’re not going to tell you what the plan is for Kaizer Chiefs. It is our secret as a club, but we do have a plan.”

Zwane says that the plans that are afoot will reveal themselves soon enough.

“If you want to achieve something, you can’t not have a plan. [Lack of strategy] allows a lot of things to happen and that will obviously unsettle you.

“But … as time goes by, everyone will be able to see our plan. Many other teams started the season with their plans and it is visible to everyone to see this is where they started, and this is where they are.”

Zwane has faith in his own ability after tasting success in the incredible knockout stage run he directed in Kaizer Chiefs 2020/21 champions league campaign.

“The results have been fluctuating, but we play to win every game. We would love to be up there because I have tasted the sweetness of playing in the CAF Champions League,” Zwane said.

Zwane is hopeful of guiding Kaizer Chiefs back into the Champions League.

“That is where we can grow as a team and where our players will grow from playing in such a demanding tournament.

“It’s good for the club and the supporters. The history of the club says we have to compete in that competition year in and year out.”
