Tau is part of an elite group of players that have played for Amakhosi and the Bucs. A true PSL legend.

CHIEFS LEGENDS LIFE AFTER FOOTBALL

Tau announced his retirement from the beautiful game on 23 July 2023.

Since then, he has taken up numerous roles.

Before retiring, in December 2012, he became the director of Bataung Memorial tombstones. This is a tombstone manufacturing company based in Katlehong.

Meaning, he resumed a more permanent role after his retirement in terms of dedication and time to the company. However, that’s not all Tau has been up too.

In fact, he even featured on Survivor SA. Tau joined the likes of Bafana Bafana legend Mark Fish and Former Springboks icon Corne Krige. The filming took place in an island off Malaysia in the South China Sea. Moreover, Jimmy Tau then released an autobiography named Jimmy Tau: My Life Story

TAU’S LEGENDARY CAREER

Tau Chiefs in 2005 and he went on to successfully captain Amakhosi and represent South Africa. He played 210 times for Amakhosi before retiring in 2013.

Furthermore, the right back won two Nedbank Cup trophies, two MTN8 cups, three Telkom Knockout winners’ medals, and the 2012/ 2013 Absa Premiership trophy during his 8-year tenure with the Soweto giants.

Tau also represented Bafana Bafana, making his debut on 8 October 2003 in a 3-0 win over Lesotho before playing his last national game on 28 March 2007 in a 1-0 loss against Bolivia.
