A new star has been recently spotted training with Kaizer Chiefs at Naturena. Will this red-hot wonder kit sign for the first team?

Mfundo ‘Obrigado’ Vilakazi has been training with Amakhosi’s first team.

Meaning, he is the newest face spotted at Naturena. So, will he earn promotion into the senior side?

OBRIGADO CALLED UP TO CHIEFS FIRST TEAM TRAINING

Cavin Johnson invited Vilakazi to first team training so that he could prepare for the All Stars match against Stellenbosch FC.

Interestingly, this is the second time he has trained with the senior side.

The skilful wonderkid was one of six stars given a chance to practice with Amakhosi at the start of the season.

Therefore, he is certainly in the minds of Amakhosi management and there are plans. Moreover, it seems to be a case of when, rather than if, he will be promoted.

Obrigado is a fan-favourite known for his dazzling dribbling and showboating. Reminiscent of peak Thabo Rakhale playing for Orlando Pirates. The difference between the two players in their experience in the DStv Premiership Vilakazi yet to make his senior debut for Amakhosi. However, is determined to earn promotion.

“The coach Cavin [Johnson} called me to the first team to prepare for the [Carling] Black Label. I’m ready [for first team action] but things won’t always go the way I plan,” Vilakazi stated on SoccerLaduma.

VILKAZI TO STEP INTO THE FOOTSTEPS OF FORMER DDC STARS

The likes of Samkelo Zwane, Aden McCarthy, Vicky Mkhawana, Wandile Duba, Karabo Molefe and Lungile Nkosi have all recently earned promotion into the first team having come through the Chiefs academy ranks.

Zwane and Duba are the only players who earned first team minutes. However, all these players are now training with the first team which means they are being prepped to make their senior debuts. Vilakazi could join them soon.
