Kaizer Chiefs target to sign new deal

This is not great news for Kaizer Chiefs fans who love Fawaaz Basadien. The left-back is negotiating a new deal with Stellenbosch.

A reported Kaizer Chiefs target is set to become a big challenge to sign. Fawaaz Basadien having talks on a new deal with Stellenbosch FC .

KAIZER CHIEFS TO MISS OUT ON BASADIEN OR PAY BIG MONEY?

According to previous local reports, the 27-year-old left back, with two assists in 11 league games, was tipped to join Chiefs to compete with the likes of Sifiso Hlanti.

Meanwhile, new reports say Basadien is getting closer to signing a new deal with Stellies.

“Stellenbosch FC have confirmed they are currently in talks with left-back Fawaz Basadien over a new long-term contract, amid interest from Gauteng,” SABC’s Mazola Molefe reported.

“According to information gathered by SABC Sport, the former Moroka Swallows defender has attracted the attention of Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, although the big guns have not initiated any formal bids just yet.

“We’re in positive discussions with him to renew on a longer-term, but we do have him secured for another 18 months at this stage,” said the club’s CEO Rob Benadie.

WHAT JOSE RIVEIRO TOLD MFUNDO VILAKAZI

In other news, Chiefs’ rising younster Mfundo Vilakazi has revealed a recent chat with Riveiro, who coached him in the Carling All Stars team.

As many of you may have seen last Saturday, Amakhosi’s reserve team superstar Mfundo Vilakazi, fondly known as “Obrigado,” put his name in bright lights.

The 18-year-old scored a fourth-minute free kick as the Carling All Stars beat Stellenbosch FC 2-1.
