Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Ntseki revealed that both Itumeleng Khune and Keagan Dolly will again lead their Chiefs teammates.

Khune has been the Amakhosi captain for almost a decade now but his lack of game time last season saw Dolly assume the role.

In Dolly’s absence, Yusuf Maart took the captain’s armband but the arrival of both Given Msimango and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe could see more players wearing it.

Msimango captained TS Galaxy while Ditlhokwe is Botswana national team captain, meaning Chiefs look solid in terms of leadership this season.

Ntseki said part of Amakhosi’s recruitment process in the off-season was to sign more players with leadership skills on and off the pitch.

And that’s because of the pressure that comes with playing for Chiefs to ensure that these new players are able to deal it.

KAIZER CHIEFS RETAIN KHUNE AND DOLLY AS CAPTAINS

“As of now, they [Khune and Dolly] are still our captains but like I’m saying, we are looking forward to having more of our top players being captains and leading the team on and off the field,” said Ntseki.

“We signed a couple of captains, we had captains in the team last season and this season we brought in some leadership in the team. We are looking forward to the new season.

“I think it’s more about the Kaizer Chiefs personality, it’s all about character on the pitch and off the pitch and we are looking forward to having a team that is driven by quality leadership,” he continued.

“If you have to analyse and understand the pressure that comes with playing for Kaizer Chiefs, you need characters, you need strong personalities and our recruitment came from that to say, ‘what type of players are we bringing to the club, what type of personalities are we bringing to the club?’

“I think we are very happy in terms our recruitment of those individual players and in terms of those individual leaders,” added Ntseki.
