Kaizer Chiefs’ struggles this DStv Premiership season have hogged a lot of online space over the last months.

With just three matches remaining, the picture is now a lot clearer as to where Gavin Hunt’s men are likely to finish the 2020/21 season.

Kaizer Chiefs currently sit in 10th place on 30 points from 27 matches – and on track for their worst ever finish to a season since the league’s inception back in 1996/97.

Should they emerge victorious in those final matches, they would end the season on 39 points.

At best that’s likely to see them finish in eighth place – and book a MTN8 first round clash against league winners Mamelodi Sundowns next season!

With a superior goal differential, Cape Town City need just two points from their final three matches to finish ahead of Kaizer Chiefs.

Key to Kaizer Chiefs’ chances of finishing in the top half of the table are TS Galaxy who current have four matches remaining.

Their goal differential isn’t too flash either and they would require seven points (our of a possible 12) to ensure the Glamour Boys can’t overtake them.

Crucially, TS Galaxy will host Kaizer Chiefs in the final league match of the season with a top 8 spot likely on the line.

However, worryingly for Amakhosi supporters their team is in fact closer to the relegation zone than the top half of the table!

Maritzburg United and TTM both have a match in hand against Kaizer Chiefs and should Amakhosi stumble badly in their upcoming matches, there is a very real possibility they will be sweating come that final match of the season.
