Kaizer Chiefs charged by PSL over Mbombela incident

Kaizer Chiefs has been charged by the Premier Soccer League (PSL) for misconduct after the club’s fans threw objects at coach Molefi Ntseki following the 1-0 defeat to TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.

The club will appear before the PSL disciplinary committee over unruly behaviour from fans who threw missiles at head coach Molefi Ntseki.

“I can confirm I have preferred charges of misconduct against Kaizer Chiefs. This is a result of a missile-throwing incident that transpired in a match between themselves and TS Galaxy on Sunday,” PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu said.

“They have been scheduled to appear before the PSL DC for Tuesday, 29 August ,” Majavu was quoted on Sowetan.

Kaizer Chiefs communications manager Vina Maphosa said the club was working with authorities to identify the individuals who ‘attacked’ Molefi Ntseki.

“It is mainly on an individual basis and those perpetrators and individuals, once identified, action will be taken by the club in the way that we communicate with our club, and the rest we’ll leave to the authorities,” he added.

Kaizer Chiefs lost their second successive league game on Sunday leaving fans angry. Some of the angry supporters at the stadium made their frustration known by throwing missiles at Ntseki as he was walking down the tunnel. Ntseki had to be escorted by police and security personnel just like his predecessors.
