Kaizer Chiefs could sign a rather top player if Edmilson Dove can deliver the football he displayed at Cape Town City in recent seasons.

As The South African website previously reported, Amakhosi’s hunt for a left-footed central defender has seen the club invite the former City star Edmilson to Naturena.

The 28-year-old was spotted in an image at the club’s village before the post went viral across social media.

AMAKHOSI CONFIRM EDMILSON

Following the reports, the club’s Director of Football Kaizer Motaung Jnr has since verified the reports that the left-footed defender is indeed under the watchful eyes of Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard.

“We also need to reinforce on the left and we are still looking for a left centre back,” Kaizer Jnr said to SA FM’s Thabiso Mosia.

“Edmilson Dove is still with us, a very good player. We know what he can do and he could be a good addition to our squad,” he added.

ZWANE CONFIRMS KAIZER CHIEFS NEED A LCB

The arrival of Edmilson, who currently plays for Mozambique’s US Songo after a shock departure from City in January, occurs after coach Zwane confirmed the urgent need for a left-footed central defender.

“We are looking for a left footed centreback, who can defend and also pick out our strikers with a pass” Zwane told via Ukhozi FM on Wednesday 27 July.

Will Edmilson impress Zwane? We shall find out in the coming days or weeks.

Meanwhile, the 12-time PSL champions are kicking off the new season against Royal AM on Saturday.

The game will begin at 17:30 from the Chatsworth Stadium.
