Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates fight for yet ANOTHER transfer target! 

It looks as if the battle between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates is set to continue with both chasing similar targets in the current transfer window.

Both Chiefs and Pirates have been linked to a whole host of players, some one team signed, some fly by night names that have been mentioned once and never again.

Two of those names have been red hot Kenyan striker Bensom Omala as well as Malawian youngster Eric Sadia. But so far, nothing has come off that interest, neither from a Chiefs or Pirates perspective. There has, however, been the likes of players that both sides have been linked with profusely, with one side coming up trumps.

Now already in this window, Chiefs have beaten Pirates to three targets that both had been profusely been linked to. All of TS Galaxy centre back Given Msimango, Golden Arrows winger Pule Mmodi and Marumo Gallants striker Ranga Chivaviro.  Mmodi was the subject of intense interest from both Chiefs and Pirates throughout the past two seasons with both clubs thought to be hot on his heels. The chase for the signing of the winger has been an interesting one before and during the current season. Just like was the case in the Msimango situation, Pirates were the last side reported to have taken the lead in the race for his signature. Then out of nowhere, it was Amakhosi who were came in to sign the player ahead of the next season, once again beating their rivals!

Chivaviro was initially linked with a move to Amakhosi, before that quietened down and it was then Sea Robbers who were starting to make ground on getting his signature towards the end of the season. It was not long before it was reported that Chiefs were set to meet the representatives of Chivaviro, in an effort to beat other rivals, including Pirates to his signature. After some time passed, it was reported the Pirates were back in the lead for the player, before another report soon after, claimed that he would prefer not to sign for the ‘Happy People’ because they already had a multitude of forward options. Just last week it was a surprise that Pirates were closing in on the player, but an even bigger one that Chiefs swooped in quickly after and signed him!

Now according to Soccer-Laduma, Chiefs and Pirates are set to continue their rivalry with Zimbabwean international Leroy Kundai Benyu.

Chiefs and Pirates tussle for Benyu?

“He (Benyu) was in Zimbabwe a few days ago and both Pirates and Chiefs were inquiring about him, One of Chiefs’ former players told them about the player but by that time Pirates had already inquired about him too. It’s a tricky situation for both teams as you have seen in recent times how they have lost players to each other. But for now, Chiefs seem to need him more than Pirates. Let’s just wait and see how the talks will go,” said the source.
