The good times continue to roll for reigning DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Brazilians have received a major boost to their hopes of retaining their league title following the return to action of striker Gift Motupa.
Gift Motupa arrived at Sundowns on a five-year contract as one of their signings from Bidvest Wits prior to the 2020/21 season, but was carrying an injury.
He was also involved in a car accident in Limpopo in late November last year.
Motupa, 26, escaped the accident with minor injuries, and Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi has now confirmed that the midfielder is back at training.
“He has started light training. He should start full-time training [this week],” Mngqithi told the media.
Meanwhile, Sundowns have also welcomed back midfielder Gaston Sirino following termination of talks of a move to Egyptian side Al Ahly.
The Uruguayan was on the bench for Sundowns’ 3-1 victory over Jwaneng Galaxy in the CAF Champions League on Tuesday.
Sundowns progressed to the group stage of the tournament with a 5-1 aggregate victory.
They are also currently top of the DStv Premiership log after nine matches.
Sundowns will next be in action on the domestic front on Saturday, 9 January against Baroka FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Kick-off is at 15:00.
Whether Gift Motupa forms part of that squad remains to be seen.
With their squad welcoming back fresh legs after injuries, it’s certainly a good time to be a Sundowns supporter!
