Hendrick Ekstein and Justin Shonga are currently training with AmaZulu in an attempt to earn deals.

Ekstein last played for Chiefs in the PSL but he was most recently on the books of Sabail FK in Azerbaijan.

Shonga, on the other hand, featured for Pirates before moving to Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) and later Cape Town City where he spent half-a-season.

And McCarthy said his technical team will have a look at the duo before making a decision on whether or not they should be signed.

While it’s clear that McCarthy isn’t in a hurry to make that call, he hinted this week could be enough to determine the fate of the two attackers.

“We’ll have a look at them [Shonga and Ekstein]. Obviously, we’ve got a week to make it to the start of the season,” said McCarthy as per Sowetan.

“So, we’re not in a hurry to add but when there’s quality players like that and they’re available, it costs us nothing to have a look at them and see if they fit in our squad or not.

“We’ve got a week or more to make a decision on them,” confirmed McCarthy.
