Ex-Chiefs coach linked with move to coachless PSL rivals

The South African understands that former Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp is heavily inked with coachless PSL rivals.

According to local media reports, ex-Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp is heavily linked with a move to coachless PSL rivals, Sekhukhune United.

Middendorp is currently clubless and he is in Mzansi to look for a coaching job – reports now link him with a move to Babina Noko – reports Sowetan.

Sekhukhune are coachless after parting ways with coach Brandon Truter who is now said to be targeted for a return to KwaZulu-Natal to join the struggling Richards Bay.

EX-CHIEFS COACH LINKED WITH COACHLESS PSL RIVALS

The 2022/23 Nedbank Cup losing finalists decided to part ways with Truter and replaced him with caretaker coach MacDonald Makhubedu.

While Makhubedu will look to impress and get the job on a permanent basis, it seems Middendorp is touted to succeed Truter.

“Meanwhile, Sowetan has gathered that Sekhukhune have earmarked former Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp as Truter’s replacement,” reports the daily publication.

“The German also attended the side’s game at (Orlando) Pirates on Tuesday.”

In addition, Makhubedu expressed confidence in his troops following their loss to Pirates on Tuesday night at Orlando Stadium.

This comes as this season’s CAF Confederation Cup participants are locked in talks to reach a settlement with Truter.

“The boys were positive about the changes even yesterday at training we did our regenerations, we did our analysis,” Makhubedu said.

“Even in camp, they were positive. I saw good body language. The change [of coaches] didn’t affect them that much.”

Up next for the club is a clash against fellow Confederation Cup campaigners SuperSport United in the DStv Premiership at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.
