Remember John Tlale? Of course, you should. The man is a Mamelodi Sundowns legendary goalkeeper.

PITSO MOSIMANE’S METHODS ARE KNOWN

As The South African confirmed this month, the DStv Premiership supremos are set to face Al Ahly in a CAF Champions League group game in Egypt this week.

Looking at the success and regular experience in the big CAF Champions League games, Ahly are the favourites, but John Tlale is not so convinced.

“They [Sundowns] didn’t concede at home, let them just keep consistency, they have quality players who can compete in that stage,” Tlale told  KickOff.

“To them and Al Ahly, it can go either way. Pitso knows how Sundowns plays, and they all know how Pitso operates. So it works for both sides.

“The position one and two I will give them to Sundowns and Al Ahly.

Tlale added to highlight how Mamelodi Sundowns have now made it an easy habit to secure comfortable home wins in the CAFCL.

“They are always seen as favourites because they are in there every year. Sundowns are lifting the league every year so, they are not even celebrating their wins here at home anymore. It’s a normal thing for them now.” And

WHY MAMELODI SUNDOWNS AND AL AHLY ARE EQUAL

According to the former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, Kabo Yellow have quickly created enough domestic and continental pedigree to become Al Ahly’s equals.

“So I think that’s what brings fear to the other teams from Africa because they know every year Sundowns is there. Look at Al Ahly, they didn’t win the league last year, but Sundowns did.

“That’s what makes these teams like Al Hilal focus more on Sundowns.

“Sundowns are now at Al Ahly’s level, and I can say that with confidence. Them signing young quality players like Teboho Mokoena tells you the scouts know what they are doing,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, The South African will be keeping eyes on all the build-ups towards Friday night’s battle.
