The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach is a self-confessed searcher of news, so best believe that Pitso Mosimane will see this message from Lyle Lakay ahead of this week’s battle.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS STAR LYLE LAKAY CHALLENGES AL AHLY

As The South African confirmed this month, the DStv Premiership supremos are set to face Al Ahly in a CAF Champions League group game in Egypt this week.

Looking ahead to the game this weekend, Lyle Lakay has assured Mamelodi Sundowns fans the club has traveled to take three points from Ahly.

“Preparations are good, everything is going well, we came here to win the two games that we play in Egypt, and we do have to focus on that,” he said via the Ultimate Sports Show.

“For us, we take each game at a time, we’re not looking obviously ahead to the Al Ahly game, like I said, we came here to win both games. [Sundowns drew against El-Merrikh].

“We won last week, we started the group off well, and I think if we can win these two games in Egypt, we know it will be easy to qualify to the knockout round.

“We have to respect them (Al Ahly) they are the reigning champions, but at the end of the day, we treat them same way we treat Al-Merrikh and any other game.”

RESPECT FOR PITSO’S AHLY, BUT…

The Athlone-born defender, who spent all his career as a left-winger before he was converted to the left-back role by Pitso, says Al Ahly are the rulers in the competition but Kabo Yellow have come with a job to beat them.

“Obviously, we have to respect them they are the reigning champions like I said, they flew into the Club World Cup, but having said that, I think we came here to win, we respect them, but obviously, we are going all out to get the three points and that will put us in a better position in the group,” he concluded.
