Chiefs vs SuperSport: A win for Amakhosi will benefit Pirates

Kaizer Chiefs will play their penultimate game of the 2022/23 season against SuperSport United at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Phokeng on Saturdat.

A win for Amakhosi will see them one point behind United as they look to sneak into the top three and qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup. Victory in Phokeng won’t just give Chiefs a chance at playing in Africa but could also seal Orlando Pirates’s spot in next season’s CAF Champions League.

For Amakhosi, it’s all about picking themselves up after Derby defeat

Arthur Zwane’s charges lost 2-1 to Pirates on Saturday in the Nedbank semi-final.

Zwane will face a challenging task to get his players focused on the league match after a tough Soweto Derby match in the Nedbank Cup on Saturday.

Chiefs currently have 44 points and their hosts have collected 48 points. They both have played 28 games, with SuperSport lying third, one place above the Glamour Boys, in fourth.

In the first round, Chiefs were victorious as they beat Matsatsantsa 2-1 at FNB Stadium, with Caleb-Bonfils Bimenyimana on the scoresheet.

A win for Chiefs could seal a CAF spot for Pirates

The medical team and the coaches will spend the next few days assessing players who sustained some knocks and bruises from the last game, and ensuring they are ready the for next assessment.
