Ex-Zambia coach was never attracted to Bafana

In 2021, Renard’s name came up again when Bafana were looking for a coach but the South African Football Association ended up getting Hugo Broos.

Mosimane, who coached Bafana between 2010 and 2012, said Renard was put off by Safa’s budget.

“I remember speaking to the coach of Saudi Arabia, Herve Renard, good guy, top guy, we text and talk; he said ‘coach why don’t you coach South Africa? I mean the country has got mines, diamonds and everything, so the sports budget should be able to pay you to coach the team’,” said Mosimane as per iDiski Times.
