South Africa’s journey to qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2026 in USA, Mexico and Canada is about to begin.
The draw for their FIFA World Cup Qualifiers is about to take place.

The draw for the CAF World Cup qualifiers will take place in Abidjan, Ivory Coast at 17:00 on Thursday, 13 July 2023
They will be grouped with one of the tier 1 nations (Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Nigeria, Cameroon, Mali and Ivory Coast).

Having recently beaten Morocco, SA fans will feel buoyant about their chances of qualifying for the global showpiece.
Especially with NINE CAF spots now (guaranteed spots for African sides in the World Cup).

Basically, the winner of each group will instantly qualify for the World Cup.
Furthermore, the best placed runners up will compete in a inter-confederation play-off for the tenth spot in the tournament.
South Africa last qualified for the 2002 World Cup tournament.
Meaning, it has been over 20 years since we last qualified. SA famously hosted the World Cup in 2010. However, we qualified via default because we were hosting.
