Bafana Bafana have a golden opportunity to test themselves when they face Morocco in an Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifying match at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Both teams have already qualified for the continental tournament to be held in Côte d’Ivoire on 13 January – 11 February 2024.

SA now have a chance to test themselves against the 2022 World Cup semi-finalist which are expected to bring their top players to South Africa. These top players include Hakim Ziyech, Achraf Hakimi, Sofyan Amrabat, Yassine Bounou and Youssef En-Nesyri.

A win for Bafana will bring them confidence

Hugo Broos’ side is set to clash with the Atlas Lions for the ninth time since the two teams first placed in 1998.

Both Bafana and Morocco have claimed two victories over each other while four other games ended in a draw.

Morocco come into this clash on the back of two straight wins over Bafana Bafana, including the 2-1 victory on the home soil last year at the beginning of the current qualifying campaign. Before that, Mbark Boussoufa scored a 90th-minute winner to give the Atlas Lions a 1-0 win over Bafana at the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
