Former Springbok and Stormers centre Juan de Jongh has retired from professional rugby.

The Cape franchise announced on Monday that the 35-year-old midfielder has elected to hang up his boots.
De Jongh played for Western Province and the Stormers between 2009 and 2017, before moving to English club Wasps for four years.
He returned to the Stormers in 2021, but struggled for game time in the United Rugby Championship (URC).

In recent seasons, he turned out for Western Province in the Currie Cup.

De Jongh made his Test debut against Wales in 2010 and went on to play 19 Tests for the Springboks, scoring three tries.
His last international appearance came in 2016 against New Zealand at Hollywoodbets Kings Park in Durban.
He also had two stints with the Blitzboks – in 2008 and between 2015-2017 – and was part of the team that won the bronze medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
