Zodwa was meant to perform alongside singer Makhadzi and a series of other African artists on Friday 26 November.

The entertainer has been documenting her experience on Instagram, revealing that she is self-isolating with boyfriend Olefile Mpudi at home.

But the couple have not let the virus damper their holiday spirit. Zodwa and bae have been busy posting pictures of themselves frolicking in the pool and share giggles in the bedroom.

Zodwaโ€™s Botswana fans on the other hand have not been so kind.

The star posted a video of the concert crowd where she was due to perform, hurling glass bottles on stage. This, after discovering that Zodwa would not be making an appearance.

Zodwa apologised to her fans, posting on Instagram: โ€œIโ€™m so sorry Botswana. Zodwa Wabantu is sick”.

However, according to the Botswana Gazette, Zodwa dodged a bullet by not coming to the country as rumours that she would be arrested and deported began to surface.

The source told the publication: โ€œAn instruction from a high-profile office was issued to BPS [Bostwana Police Services] o arrest and lay charges against the controversial entertainer”.

The source added that police were instructed to use Section 167 and 176 of the penal code as grounds for arrest, which refer to public indecency and common nuisance respectively.

However a police spokesperson claimed he was not constrained to speak on a matter that did not occur.

In 2018 Zodwa was deported from Zambia after the countryโ€™s National Arts Council rejected her application to perform. She is due to return to the country for the first tim since her deportation on 18 December 2021.
