Wanted MURDER suspect arrested at roadblock in Gauteng

A suspect wanted for murders from 2020 was arrested at a roadblock on Columbine Road in Gauteng on Thursday.

A suspect wanted for murders since 2020 was arrested at a roadblock in Gauteng on Thursday, 20 October.

South African Police Services (SAPS) Gauteng spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello said the arrest was carried out on Columbine Road.

Why was the vehicle stopped at the roadblock?

The vehicle was reportedly suspicious as it had a bullet hole on the side. This prompted the police on duty to stop it.

Detectives from the Anti-Gang Unit were called immediately to conduct further investigations on the vehicle and its occupants.

The murder suspect was identified and arrested

The detectives managed to identify one of the vehicle’s occupants as a suspect who was wanted for murders. The suspect allegedly terrorised the communities of Westbury and Eldorado Park.

He was also linked to another case of murder in Sophiatown. The suspect had a warrant of arrest issued for him.

Gauteng Commissioner commended the team on the arrest

General Elias Mawela, the Provincial SAPS Commissioner for Gauteng commended the team on the arrest.

He further assured members of the public that the police will continue working hard to make sure that those who do not follow the law are apprehended.

“The wheels of justice may seem to grind slowly but surely perpetrators will be brought to book”,

said Lt Gen Mawela.

Mass murder suspect arrested at Lesotho taxi rank

In an unrelated incident, it was reported that a mass murder suspect was apprehended today, Tuesday, 18 October at the Lesotho taxi rank in the inner Johannesburg CBD.

According to the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD), this suspect was wanted for multiple murders. He was arrested by JMPD IIOC Undercover officers in the JHB CBD.
