These students say they have nowhere else to go.
Groups of students from the University of Pretoria (TUKS) have been forced to sleep in various campus facilities over res placement issues. The students who do not have families in Pretoria, have been sleeping in the universities bathrooms and even the library.
A report by eNCA shows just how defeated these students feel. The group say that race is a massive motivating factor. They say the University favours white students when conducting res placements.
The TUKS students say that University security has forced them off campus, not allowing them to sleep in the library even though they have no where else to go. Some students say that after being thrown out by the guards, they were beaten. University managment on the other hand have said that some of the students have “misrepresented” the situation.
