Three-day unplanned WATER SHUTDOWN in these Joburg suburbs

Johannesburg Water has issued a three-day Water Shutdown notice to residents residing in the northern suburbs of Joburg.

Johannesburg Water has issued a three-day Water Shutdown notice to residents residing in the northern suburbs of Joburg today, Tuesday, 22 August.

THE LATEST UNPLANNED WATER SHUTDOWN ANNOUNCED

According to Johannesburg Water, this is an unplanned water shutdown which takes place from today, 22 August to Friday, 25 August.

The suburbs affected include:

  • Kensington
  • Bruma
  • Malvern,
  • and neighbouring suburbs

All the streets in the listed areas will be without water.

THE REASON FOR THE WATER SHUTDOWN

“The reason for the interruption is the maintenance of Alexandra Park reservoir.”

“During the maintenance of the reservoir, customers will have water. However, in the event that the cleaning does not go as planned, customers might experience low pressure to no water,” Johannesburg Water cautioned.

Furthermore, the entity said in case of a prolonged water outage, arrangements will be made for an alternative water supply.

JOHANNESBURG WATER ANNOUNCES ANOTHER INTERRUPTION IN SOWETO

Meanwhile, the entity also notified residents of Soweto about a water shutdown affecting Diepkloof Zone 6 tomorrow, Wednesday, 23 August.

According to the entity, all streets will be affected and the duration of the outage will be from 7am to 10pm. The reason for the interruption is a burst pipe water 70mm steel pipe which feeds Orlando East Reservoir.

As residents will experience dry taps, Johannesburg Water said it will be providing water tankers if the planned work exceeds the stipulated time.
