Defence lawyer in Senzo Meyiwa trial accused of attempted murder
One of the defence lawyers in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial reportedly faces charges of attempted murder and contravening a protection order.

One of the defence lawyers in the trial of the five men accused of killing former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa is reportedly facing a charge of attempted murder.
According to the SABC, the defence lawyer is Advocate Thulani Mngomezulu, representing accused 1 and 2 Muzi Sibiya and Bongani Ntanzi.
DEFENCE LAWYER IN SENZO MEYIWA TRIAL FACES LITANY OF CHARGES
According to the SABC, Mngomezulu faces attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, infringement of a protection order, and resisting arrest charges dating back to November 2022.
The complainant is his wife, Dumisile Sebentile Mngomezulu.
Dumisile reportedly wanted to withdraw the case; it has yet to be made clear when, however, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) declined her request.

DEFENCE LAWYER ARRESTED INSIDE COURT
It is not the first time charges against a defence lawyer in the case have been made public.
A former defence lawyer for accused 1 – 4 and disbarred advocate Malesela Teffo was arrested inside the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria, where the trial sits.
It was revealed that Teffo was accused of misconduct and misappropriation of funds by several clients who complained that he never rendered services despite paying.
The clients had complained to the Legal Practice Council before he even represented accused 1 – 4 in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial. His conduct at the soccer star’s murder trial was not considered in this matter.
The LPC disbarred Teffo in September 2022.
