From Frank the dog becoming all kinds of famous, to “ban ban baby”. Rassie Erasmus, the country’s favourite Rugby coach/director is living his best December (Dezemba) life. And it seems his antics are now also getting the rest of us South Africans involved. Rassie’s latest clip of him showing off his best dance moves has gone down so well, that now there is a whole dance challenge inspired by it.

Can you handle the Rassie Erasmus dance challenge?

Ok, so if you don’t know the original video that started Rassie’s newfound dancing career…
It all started when he decided to jokingly throw his hat in the ring to become a member of the Gwijo Squad. After a short review period, the squad were very happy to accept his application. That’s despite Rassie’s own admission that he is white and lacks rhythm.

Dancing Rassie, hidden Dezemba

One South African with probably waaay too much time on their hands this December has even gone as far as creating a “Dancing Rassie” Twitter account. In the 24 hours the account has been active, there are now 15 different clips of Rassie’s dance. The catch? They’re the same moves, just all to completely different songs.

This first one might be our favourite though. But take a look at some of the best few.

Even the slower jams! Rassie Erasmus and his school of dance have you covered for all occasions.

What about the #RassieErasmusDanceChallenge?

It hasn’t taken very long to get South Africans to attempt to join in and dance side by side with our director of rugby. Just look at how Borrie and her daughter pulled it off. Dare we say, they may have actually out danced Rassie.

So whether you’re a dancer or not, Rassie Erasmus has clearly proven that each one of us can live our Dezemba best. For the sake of our entertainment, we know it’s going to be a bit of a shock to see Rassie go back to work once his ban ends. Our Twitter loss is sure to be our Springboks’ gain.
