The spring high tide on Saturday caused DESTRUCTION on Saturday, and some of it was caught on camera.

Several videos and pictures were posted on social media, showing massive waves lifting stationary vehicles in Gordon’s Bay, Stilbaai, Mossel Bay, and Three Anchor Bay in Cape Town. In the Eastern Cape, Mangolds Pool Resort experienced its fair share of damages.

A 93-YEAR-OLD WOMEN DIED WHEN SHE WAS SWEPT OFF HER FEET

According to National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) spokesperson Craig Lambinon, a 93-year-old woman died when she was reportedly swept off her feet at Leentjiesklip in Wilderness.

Lambinon said waves swept over a parking lot, and it is their understanding that her death is weather-related.

He said a man was also injured.

PUBLIC CAUTIONED TO BE CAREFUL TODAY

Meanwhile, residents from Herolds Bay and Victoria Bay had to be evacuated when astronomical waves led to coastal flooding, causing structural damage worth thousands of rand.

Motorists are urged to be cautious on the roads due to high tides flooding parking lots, the freeway, and neighbouring streets.

SEVERAL ROADS ARE CLOSED – MOTORISTS URGED TO BE CAREFUL

Several roads were also closed, including all roads leading to beaches in and around George and the Garden Route.

The SA Weather Service (SAWS) issued several high-level warnings for Sunday.
