City of Joburg advised motorists to obey the rules of the road to minimise risks amid the heavy rainfall.
“Motorists are urged to obey road signs, traffic signals and especially road closures due to flooded bridges or unsafe driving conditions which unsafe to traverse,” the city cautioned.

The DA reports that participants in the Soweto Marathon were forced to run through raw sewerage this past weekend.
“There is no clearer indication that Johannesburg desperately requires new leadership, than the rather apt comparison to be made between raw sewerage spoiling a marathon, and the current government’s impact on the City,” said Cllr Belinda Kayser-Echeozonjoku, the DA Johannesburg Caucus Leader.
