Two more former G4S employees were arrested in connection with the Thabo Bester case on Monday in Bloemfontein. Here is the latest.

Police said two more former G4S employees were arrested in connection with the Thabo Bester case on Monday in Bloemfontein.
According to police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, these two former employees were dismissed by G4S.
“The pair will appear before the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 03 May 2023, on a charge of assisting an inmate to escape from lawful custody and defeating the ends of justice.”

Mathe furthermore said the team investigating this case has so far arrested eight suspects and cannot rule out the possibility of effecting more arrests.
Meanwhile, the police last week identified the charred body found in cell 35 of the Mangaung Correctional Centre last year, initially thought to be that of Bester as Batho Mpholo.

The father of Katlego Bereng, whose body was used by “Facebook rapist” and murderer Thabo Bester in an elaborate prison escape plan.
Bereng’s family reported him missing to the police in May last year after he disappeared in March. They started their search for him at government mortuaries and it was only after they could not find him that they registered a missing person case with police.
Bester escaped from the correctional facility after faking his death in a fire that broke out in his cell in May 2022.

He and his lover, disgraced doctor Nandipha Magudumana, who helped him escape, were on the run for about nine months before they were recaptured in Arusha in Tanzania in April.
One of the G4S correctional officers who was fired for assisting Bester in his daring escape from Mangaung Correctional Centre boasted on social media about a brand-new car before and after the audacious jailbreak.
Senohe Matsoara, who the multinational security company dismissed in September, was a security supervisor believed to have been in cahoots with Bester and aided him in his elaborate escape on May 3 last year.
Matsoara posted a picture on Facebook in January 2022 of a certificate from the Volkswagen Menlyn dealership congratulating “Mr Senohe Ishmael Matsoara on your beautiful Volkswagen T-Roc 2.0”. Also, in January 2022, he posted pictures of himself in front of a new car.
He again posted pics of a brand-new T-Roc in September, when he was dismissed.
